3 amazing neighborhoods that will make you feel like you stepped out of Arizona

When you think of Arizona, a few things come to mind. Cacti, desert, and super hot weather are typically at the forefront of that list. And, if you’re familiar with Arizona, rock landscape, minimal grass, a lack of lush green trees (other than palm trees, of course) and a style of house that typically includes minimal brick may also pop into your head.

But, there are some neighborhoods that simply make you feel like you’ve stepped out of the state and landed in a completely different part of the country (or even world)! Here are 3 amazing neighborhoods you’ll definitely want to check out here in the valley of the sun.

Agritopia

This east valley is home to one of the coolest neighborhoods ever (in Gilbert, to be exact). Agritopia not only has some of the cutest houses around, it’s built on an amazing concept. With over 160 acres, Agritopia is a planned community that features a certified organic farm, a community garden, schools, and even restaurants. The houses look more like cottages or bungalows, and feature narrow, tree-lined streets that encourage neighborly chat and community. This is only supported by many of the homes’ cute front porches and low fencing. One thing is for sure, the neighborhood certainly doesn’t personify typical Arizona.

Verrado

When you look at a typical neighborhood in Arizona, “main street” vibes typically don’t come to mind. But Verrado in Buckeye is different. “Small town charm” is the name of the game at Verrado, and winding streets and front porch living are just some of the community’s best features. Plus, a swim park, golf club, hiking trails, and its very own Main Street (featuring its very own restaurants, cafes and shopping). Tree-lined streets, plenty of grass, and a diverse array of architectural styles all make Verrado one of the most unique places you can live in the Valley.

Coronado

Downtown Phoenix is home to some of the most unique and architecturally interesting neighborhoods in all of Arizona. Coronado is definitely one of them. With its unique historic homes, the neighborhood’s houses feature front porches, front yards on the larger side, and homes that will remind you of east coast cottages vs. Arizona’s surrounding desert. Plus, many houses officially have a historic designation, meaning they’re at least 50 years old, demonstrate historical significance, and still possess historical integrity.

Although Arizona is known for its own take on desert living, there are definitely neighborhoods dispersed throughout the Valley that will make you second guess where you are. The best part is that all of these neighborhoods, combined with Arizona’s more notable charms, makes for one of the most diverse and interesting places to call home. One this is for sure – living in Arizona doesn’t mean you’ll be in a cookie cutter neighborhood.
